Hello, my name is Gary Metcalf Tech number 2909 for Directech SW and i would like to take a moment to thank everyone for your support to being elected for the bargaining committee. I am honored to represent my fellow technicians and Customer Service Representatives of Directech SW, Paducah. Now the time that has been anticipated the most is upon us. Im an installer (independent contractor) up near Chicago. Im a former AT&T employee and former member of CWA. You guys have done a very good thing for yourselves and your families. CWA is an excellent union, and will be very helpful to you guys in reaching a agreement that is fair for both the company and the workers.
As many of you know this industry has treated installers worse and worse. HSPs just keep lowering the bar. Im a member of 2 on line forums for satellite workers, and the talk of unionizing always comes up. Its good to hear about a group that has took action.
